My training is rooted in a person-centred approach, supported by formal training and hands-on experience in listening to people’s stories with care and respect. Working together, we look to uncover the underlying beliefs and emotions that contribute to your tension, which may be preventing you from fully embracing your potential.
I’m often told that I’m easy to talk to, which drew me to volunteering in listening roles and ignited a desire to become a counsellor.
I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, with additional training in counselling studies, counselling skills, and Mental Health First Aid. I’ve also completed the Samaritans Core Training, which deepened my ability to be present with people in moments of crisis or distress.
I’ve just completed the Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, which has expanded my ability to support clients in exploring their experiences in greater depth.
Counselling is a third career chapter for me. Initially, I trained as a steelworker at a local shipyard before studying graphic design. I ran a small creative studio for many years in Cornwall. That background taught me the value of curiosity, creativity, and seeing the world from different perspectives, qualities that continue to shape the way I meet each client as a unique individual.
Whatever you’re going through, you’ll be met with compassion, empathy and acceptance. Maybe it’s a constant undercurrent of anxiety, or a low mood that won’t shift. Maybe you’ve been holding yourself together for everyone else, but inside you feel frayed, disconnected, or unsure of who you are anymore.
I’m a fully-qualified, insured, person-centred counsellor in Cornwall. Together, at a pace that feels right, we’ll create space for change with a therapeutic approach that respects your individuality and supports your personal goals. With compassion and curiosity, we’ll explore what’s going on beneath the surface, gently uncovering the patterns, emotions, and beliefs that may be contributing to your tension so you can move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and self-understanding.
Working together in a person-centred way, we’ll trust your instincts to make sense of how you feel. That might include things you’ve never said out loud, or experiences and emotions you’re still figuring out. The work is often about exploring the feelings beneath the words, the pauses, the silences, the things that are hard to name. It isn’t always about finding answers; sometimes it’s about staying with the questions or uncertainty. About making space for the parts of you that haven’t had room to breathe before.
We can meet in my quiet, comfortable space in Redruth, online, or over the phone, whichever feels safer for you. There’s no set timetable, no pressure to commit long-term. Just one step at a time, starting from where you are right now.
If you’re ready to begin, or even just curious to find out more, let’s talk.
